Founded in 1964, CAU photography department is the first photography education institution in South Korea. With the beginning of the digital and online era in the 21st century, the school is researching and educating rapidly changing photography languages according to the trend of the times and continues to produce photography and video experts in arts, new media, science, and companies. Many famous artists, advertising photographers, curators, theorists, leading broadcasters, and newspapers in Korea have been active as creative talents with theoretical and practical skills and have continued to produce many winners of major domestic and international awards like Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography and Dior Photo Award for Emerging Talents.

 

Alumni of this major fill more than 50 percent of Korean photography-related University professors and lecturers, and based on this, Chung-Ang University’s photography major is at the forefront of Korean photography education. In addition, most of the professional working-level staff in our major to various media including Korea’s leading broadcasters and journalists.
Since the beginning of 2000, it has been actively exchanging with European and Asian universities through international student exchange programs. In addition, various domestic and international exhibition projects are being realized.
